女權是一種思維

歐盟執行委員會(European Commission)副總裁Margot Wallstrom接受採訪提到她正努力讓更多女性從事歐盟高階職務(senior EU positions)。來自瑞典的她在國內較沒有性別歧視的問題，性別平等也一直是瑞典境內常態，所以她比較能夠順利走上決策桌，以政治為業。但是就她觀察歐盟裡各個國家的政府職位，只有24%是由女性組成，而且大部分負責社會及文化事務(in charge of cultural or social issues)，負責議會運作的女性不到四分之一。

顯然這不是一個民主代表制(representative democracy)的常態。

不過總有人覺得女性爭權利就是想踏在男性的頭上，Wallstrom特別強調這是誤解。

Let me be very clear: I am not arguing that women are better than men. What I am arguing is that representative democracy which excludes 52% of the population from the decision-making tables is not real democracy at all. It is in the interest of society as a whole - women and men - that we be represented equally.
